New Year's Day and a new year, so we tried something 'different' and went to the movie theater. In 2009 we hardly went to the cinema, maybe twice? With our Netflix subscription, Xbox Live movie streaming, and free movies from the library, we were pretty much set with home movie entertainment, so no need to fuss with lines, crowded theaters, and the $10 ticket. But KJ was interested in seeing Avatar in 3D so we endured the new year's day mob at the theater to watch this blockbuster, and I absolutely loved it. I don't know if it was the 3D, but I thought it was visually stunning, despite it being CGI and motion capture imaging, the scenes just blew me away. The story itself was an 'all element' kind of film, with some action/adventure, sci-fi, romance, and comic relief. The story was something like a Lord of the Rings meets Braveheart meets Aliens meets Last of the Mohicans lol I was thoroughly entertained for the almost three hours. All in all, I was glad to see this movie in the theater and not wait until DVD. And with all the 3D movie previews that were shown before the movie, I think this really is the way of the future in cinema. Alice In Wonderland in 3D...next on my list.

Happy New year! Hope you had a great start to 2010 :) I'm hearing quite a lot of good stuff on Avatar. At first it was only bad stuff, now that it's reached wider audience, good stuff. I'm tempted to see it, but it's exactly that the movie is an 'all-element' kind of film, which is putting me off. Does it go deep enough?
Can't wait for Alice in Wonderland!!!
