Mexican Radio

This has been the year of not eating-out so much. I used to love going out and trying different cuisines and restaurants, but over time I've pretty much tried all the restaurants I want to try in my town and don't keep up with the new ones that open every now and then. Lately I've preferred the cozy atmosphere of my dining room with home cooked meals or at friends' places. When you are traveling though you have no choice, but to explore and experiment the local restaurant culture.

While visiting NYC with my in-laws a few weeks ago, we came across this Mexican restaurant in NoLiTa and I really loved it. I normally don't have a real taste for Mexican food and it was more my in-laws food choice for the evening. So we looked-up on our phones the nearest Mexican restaurant and ta-da...there was one only a few blocks from our current location. I was pleasantly surprised :)

Mexican Radio has a super, great atmosphere with vibrant colors for decor, lots of lighted candles, excellent waitstaff, and very yummy food. Their mole sauce is to die for! I couldn't believe how much I could eat either...after starter nachos and my main entree, I still had enough room to have their award-winning flan for dessert. I didn't imbibe any of their pretty looking margaritas (I don't normally go for margaritas anyways), but KJ sampled a bit from their extensive tequila list and I didn't hear any complaints from him haha This restaurant is definitely going on my list for all my NYC trips!

I just realised I haven't been to a Mexican restaurant in ages. In Switzerland there was one just around the corner and it was divine! And I agree, sometimes there's nothing better than your own kitchen. My favourite restaurant is still mama's casa ;)

Happy weekend hun!
