Autumn in New York

I feel like the next few posts to the blog will be slightly out of order...but let's start with returning from a four-day weekend in NYC. My in-laws are visiting from the Netherlands and they decided to land in JFK Airport, tour the city for a few days, then rent a car and drive down to our place in Virginia after stopping at various points of interests along the way. So KJ and I thought it would be a great idea to make a mini-holiday for ourselves and take the train up there and meet them for the weekend.

The city was bustling as usual, but we made our lives even more bustling by packing-in as much friend visits as we could while we were there, on top of being the official city guides for mom and dad. It was wonderful to see old friends who now live in the city and we endured doing the more touristy site-seeing.

I have a so-so relationship with the City. Maybe because I lived there as a teenager and also in other large cities during my early twenties that now I really love and prefer to live in a smaller town and closer to nature and the outdoors. Right now as I type this in the office room, the windows are open and there's the fresh, crisp autumn air breezing in, bright orange and red-leafed trees right in my view, and the sound of birds chirping. It's good to be back home...

Absolutely gorgeous views from that first photo. I can't seem to tell if I'm just a country girl or just a city girl. I think I'm both when the mood strikes me :)
