Tomorrow is the start of the Fall season, my favorite time of the year. A time of warm days and cool nights in Charlottesville. Also, the changing of the leaves will start soon, which will make for spectacular sights during hikes in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
This weekend we got a headstart on Fall activities and headed over to Carter Mountain Orchard, which is only a 5-10 minute drive from our house. We strolled around the very serene orchards, working-up an appetite before indulging in some apple cider donuts =p. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday morning. They have a ton of different varieties available for picking and we'll be sure to get our weekly apples from them as the different types come into peak picking this Fall. Time to dig into some apple baking recipes. Any suggestions?
