Albemarle County Fair
(with political campaigners, of course)
The smell of funnel cakes, cotton candy, candy apples, pulled-pork bbq (KJ's favorite). Ribbons for the best grown fruits, vegetables, pies, home brewed beer, and wine. Livestock shows complete with cattle, pigs, chickens, llamas, and the cutest baby chicks you can pick-up and pet. A music tent where you can hear Appalachian roots, bluegrass, country blues, and rock. It's county fair season!

Pretty much every weekend til the end of summer there is a surrounding county that will be hosting their fair. They are such a great way to get outside and see various groups come together and celebrate your local offerings. One great aspect of our county fair we just went to was the contributions from Backyard Revolution, which set-up numerous tents with workshops and seminars pertaining to the cultural and agricultural heritage of Central Virginia, anything from maple syrup making to composting to growing heirloom tomatoes to making your own cider to needle crafting...so much to learn! Not bad for a mere $7 entry fee!
